Still paying your bills through the mail and going to your bank branch to deposit your checks? It might be time that you give online banking a try. Many banks are providing an increasing number of services online, making it easier for customers to do their banking. Now you can pay bills, check your balance, order checks and much more any time you like, without having to rush to the bank before closing.
Banks have always used powerful computers to do their business and now with the growth of PCs in the home and easy access to the internet, you can now make use of this network by using online banking. The online banking service is set up so that even the most basic PC user can understand and complete transactions successfully.
Services available for online banking differ from institution to institution, but most banks can offer customers: account balance, money transfers, check ordering, check sending and the ability to send questions or queries via e-mail. Many banks are also allowing bill payment, called e-bills, where most utility bills and credit card bills can be paid online.
Nothing is simpler than e-bills. You simply set up the payee on your online account, for example a credit card bill or phone bill, and you can either have the bill paid automatically each month or have an e-invoice sent to you and you can settle the bill online. Some vendors can be paid electronically, which cuts down the payment time to two to three days.
By using online banking, you can pay your bills or see your balance in the middle of the night. You can access your account any time, wherever there is a PC with internet access. So, if you have some urgent business while you are on holiday, you can still make online transactions, maybe at an internet café? However, when using a PC that is not your own, always log off after you are done and never give anyone your username and password.
